Monday, 11th of February 2008, 02:30 p.m. Animation & Live Action - Crossing the Border
Even though live action is becoming increasingly animated in terms of special and visual effects, live action producers are often reluctant when it comes to “classical” animation. What are the possibilities to get in touch with the world of animation? What options are there to actively co-produce? Does “arthouse animation” exist? What is animation, or what can it be: a different world, a stylistic device or simply another way to produce? A film is a film – does it matter which form you choose?
Michael Schmetz, (Spokesman of the Association of Animation Producers in Germany, VdAP), Peter Gustafsson (Swedish Film Institute, Sweden), Thomas Hägele (fmx/ International Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Digital Media, Germany) and Nina Paley (prod/dir of "Sita Sings the Blues", Berlinale Generation 14plus).
