GIRONA SET FOR A NEW EDITION OF CARTOON FORUM
Three days from the inauguration of Cartoon Forum Catalunya, the Girona City Hall and the organizers of the event have released some news about this new edition, set to begin next Wednesday September 19th.
The Mayoress of Girona, Anna Pagans, was in charge of the presentation, along with the General Director of CARTOON Marc Vandeweyer, Marc López (ICIC), Xavier Romero (Televisió de Catalunya) and Alex Navarro (MEDIA Antena Catalunya), partners of the Cartoon Forum Catalunya.
In its eighteenth edition, this forum, aimed at advancing the production, distribution and financing of European animation series for TV and new media, will gather more than 800 sector professionals from 29 countries in the Auditori - Palau de Congressos Girona.
Throughout the three-day event, participants will have the opportunity to discover the latest generation of European animation with 60 projects from 12 different countries, summing up about 400 hours of content and a 216 million euro budget.
This is the fourth time that the Cartoon Forum is being held in Spain and this year the event will be celebrated in a region with one of the most thriving traditions in European animation.
In recent years, Catalunya has stood out among European animation productions thanks to its creativity and international scope, as well as the support from Catalonian institutions and Catalan television broadcaster TVC. This Cartoon Forum edition includes eight Catalonian projects, and four Catalonian companies nominated for the Cartoon Tributes 2007.
Organised by CARTOON (European Association of Animation Film) with the support of the MEDIA Programme of the European Union, the main partners of Cartoon Forum Catalunya are Generalitat de Catalunya - Institut Català de les Indústries Culturals (ICIC), Televisió de Catalunya (TVC) and Catalan Films & TV (CF&TV). The event also has the support of Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), Ajuntament de Girona, MEDIA Antena Catalunya and Universitat de Girona.
