Cartoon Tributes seeks to recognise companies’ contributions to the development of European animation
Three German companies among the 15 finalists for the Cartoon Tributes 2007
The Catalonian city Girona is hosting the second annual Cartoon Tributes, the European Association of Animation Film’s recognition for companies’ contribution to the development of the European animation industry.
Created in 2006, the Cartoon Tributes has three categories: Broadcaster of the Year, Investor/Distributor of the Year and Producer of the Year. The winners are voted on by the over 750 participants in the 18th Cartoon Forum, which will be celebrated this year from Sept 19-22 in Girona.
The Cartoon Tributes, along with the Cartoon d’Or for best animated short film, is organised within the framework of the Cartoon Forum, the most important European event for animation for TV and new media such as internet and mobile telephony.
Three German companies have been selected for Best Broadcaster and Best Investor/Distributor of the Year. KI.KA, the public children’s channel from ARD and ZDF that is celebrating its tenth anniversary is running for Best Broadcaster of the Year, while BKN International, the global animation company based in Germany with offices in London, Barcelona and New York and TV Loonland, that has recently invested in five projects from five different producers are running for Best Investor/Distributor of the Year.

The event also has the support of Ajuntament de Girona, Instituto de la Cinematografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales (ICAA), MEDIA Antena Catalunya and Universitat de Girona.
